OUR CORE MISSION

We bridge cultural gaps through the power of moving images. By curating a diverse selection of films that span genres and borders, we foster an environment where local filmmakers and international masters engage in a vital creative dialogue.

“True cinematic innovation happens when regional authenticity meets global vision.”

Our curatorial approach ensures every screening is more than just a presentation; it's a catalyst for professional growth and artistic discovery within the DMV community.

Founder & Festival Director

Tanecia Britt is a filmmaker, creative production leader and media strategist whose career spans storytelling and the systems that bring stories to audiences. Her professional background includes scripted content, streaming and VOD operations, content engineering, production leadership and festival operations.

"We are building a bridge for what comes next, ensuring the DMV remains a vital hub for professional growth."

She founded DMViFF around a simple but specific idea: filmmakers from the DMV should not sit outside the international film conversation. They should be programmed directly inside it.

As Founder and Festival Director, Britt leads the festival’s programming and curatorial direction, shaping the relationship between DMV and international cinema while developing the filmmaker, audience and industry relationships that support DMViFF’s next chapter.

Her background in content engineering and media strategy also informs a broader view of the filmmaker lifecycle, from discovery and exhibition to how work is positioned, delivered and sustained after its initial festival window.
